Vexatious proceedings

Cases that have been brought to the Court without reasonable grounds or to annoy, cause delay or detriment, or achieve another wrongful purpose.

The Vexatious Proceedings Act 2014 introduced ways to manage and prevent vexatious litigation earlier and more effectively.

The Act gives the courts greater powers to restrict a plaintiff’s ability to bring vexatious litigation, which protects the court system and community. It also preserves the plaintiff’s right to bring valid litigation.
